The Year 2007

ON-Mix Media: the year 2007 in brief…

January 2007
All the websites are on a new server. We have implemented a new component for the artists and releases.
A new gadget appears on the market called the iBuzz. A vibrator that can be connected to your iPod. ON-Mix Media plans to release an album with iBuzz music.

Woopekken on Babbochjas release their second album called ‘The Gun Is Still Smoking’.

February 2007
At the beginning of February our server is down. Nobody knows what causes this. However we are unable to restart it again and when it does we can’t do anything. The sites are not online. This will take us sometime to restore all the sites and their functionality. Is our site hacked? Did we do something stupid? It appears that the site has been hacked. IP addresses point to another domain, which we do not own. Thanks to Frits the problems get solved and by the end of February we are back online.

Moments of iBuzz Pleasure is being released by Kodjax. A compilation of music from our label. Mongrel and Oilboy’s Aftersun release new albums as well.

We have a celebrated our 2 years as a netlabel.

March 2007
The day after the night before is glooming, we can’t stand the bright light. Celebration is over, all that is left is a giant hangover. Slowly we think about altering our site once again. We want to have a more professional look and feel. Where we in the past just would start designing a new layout, this time we approach it more carefully. We decide to use commercial bits and pieces in stead of inventing the wheel ourselves. Therfor we will be implementing iJoomla Magazine and Acajoom for our newsletter.

Our high quality mp3 files (320Kb) are put in an online music shop, we are using MusicDock for this. We hope that this will be another feature appreciated by our visitors.

Website has been running stable for an entire month now. No hiccups, no errors, no nothing, we can hardly believe it.

Meanwhile Mini Mouse signed to our label and instandly released their debut album called; Frivool. Woopekken on Babbochjas invited artists from our label to come up with a remix version of their song; Look What The Wind Blew In. Those remixes are released as “Look What The wind Blew In – The Remixes”.

April 2007
Kodjax is busy finishing the ambient mixes for ON-Mix. He carefully hand-picked ambient tracks from the artists of our label and will turn those songs into a mix.

Our online-musicshop is launched!

  • Chambre Noire (The Mix and The Tracks) see the light of day
  • Spoiled Egg release their second album; Escallet
  • Zero V continues to release whatever possible (as he says); Nameless
  • Harry Hurricane releases his debut album; Windbound
  • And last but not least, 7 Bandits decide to release their latest album; The Darkest of Dreaming

May 2007
Our website is once again changed, this time we picked a template from Rockettheme and changed it to our preferences. It turned into a kick-ass website!

Everything is running smoothly.

Humdrm is releasing their second album called; Frutti di Mare
A newly signed artist; Zinoeki release their debut album entitled; Welcome to the Candystore
Zero V surprises us with an unexpected album called; L.A. Riot (thought the guy was busy with ‘Leaves of Grass’).

June 2007
We are counting our blessings, the website is still stable. Despite the fact that our provider suffers from several attacks.

A new band signs to our label: Volvo Motorboys.

Again new releases are being published via our label:

Mr. DeVo! (busy as usual) releases, Work in Progress 2. Showing us what he has been up to lately.
Volvo Motorboys, with their debut release; Condensation.

July 2007
We are getting ready for the holiday season. Which means that some of us will enjoy a well-earned vacation (had to look in the dictionary what is meant ‘vacation’).

Zero V remixed a track by Bambu and started working on one for the Chemical Brothers.

New releases:

  • Mini Mouse – Mei Skea en Mei Skande
  • Straight Component – Deja Vu – A Retrospective
  • Spoiled Egg – Zeitlupe
  • Zero V – Travelling (A Collection) [whatever happened to 'Leaves of Grass'?]

A bunch of new artists signs up to our label, we’re passing the 40 acts!

August 2007
Exciting times, despite the holidays, a lot is happening. We where finally caught by an attack! Our website has been offline for about a day. A few days later our webserver is transported to another datacenter, where it is easier to monitor the darn thing.

Within the next few months we’ll move again to a more reliable provider (and cheaper!).

We’ve also changed the look of our site again. We’ll leave it this way for the rest of the year – PROMISE!

New releases:

  • Scamlin – Lost in Russia
  • Max Mashup – Some Like it Hot
  • Boy In Trouble – The Gateway to Civilization
  • Oilboy’s Aftersun – After 8

September 2007
Still growing our catalogue of music. Ideas to start working with videos as well are forming into a working model. We have also decided to move our webserver to Germany, a financial decision. In the Netherlands we have to pay for the used bandwidth and in Germany they work with a flat fee model. Which also means that the ON-Mix Radio initiave is pulled out of the refridgerator again.

As promised no changes in the look and feel of our website.

New releases:

  • Practitune – Noys 4 Boys
  • Woopekken on Babbochjas – Nachspielzeit

October 2007
Quite a slow month for ON-Mix. We’re still discussing the possibility to host videos for bands. There’s some contact woth content providers (the videos that is), but nothing really happens.

No change in the look and feel of our website – as promised.

New releases:

  • Mini Mouse – Laplazerus
  • Spoiled Egg – Rote Nase

November 2007
Sadly we broke our promise not to change the look and feel of our website untill the end of this year. At the end of November a new lay-out is being introduced. Better fitting our needs. We have also added the Reverbnation utilities to our website.

We have talked to an organization that sells concert tickets (they do a lot more…) and agreed to come up with a small business plan for the alternative music scene.

New releases:

  • Volvo Motorboys – Out Of The Darkroom

December 2007
We have delivered the small business plan, which holds the idea to transform ON-Mix Media into the music portal for the alternative scene. We’ve also started discussions with a television broadcasting company, for the videos.

Since this is the month of reflection, loads of food and drinks, no new releases this month.

We are all looking forward to the next year, which is going to be our year!
